Defying the cultural, religious and spiritual norms of the day, a "sinful woman" entered into Simon the Pharisee's home while he dined with Jesus and began to wash Jesus' feet with her tears, wipe them with her hair and anoint them with perfume. While Simon was shocked by this and more than a little upset, Jesus used it as a lesson to teach Simon about how we should all act when we're in the presence of a God who forgives us our sins.
